William Bolitho was born in Perth, Scotland. He was educated at the University of Glasgow and Edinburgh University before becoming a full-time writer in 1963. His work has appeared in many publications, including The Scotsman, the Daily Telegraph, the Sunday Times Magazine, the Spectator, the Sunday Telegraph Magazine, Private Eye, The Sunday Times Magazine, The Observer Magazine, The Times Literary Supplement and New Statesman.
